Starring Super Five’s Ok JinWook (who plays HaeBom) and Kang Hui (( also known as Kang Hee) who plays Jo TaeSung, many fans can’t get enough of this pair’s sweet chemistry. “Cherry Blossoms After Winter” is based on a BL webtoon written by BamWoo. You can read it in Korean on the Naver series app, and in English on the Web Comics Website or App. Although the webtoon and K-Drama are not exactly the same, none of the differences drastically change the story. However, you might find some of the differences interesting. So, here is a randomly ordered list of 6 differences between the “Cherry Blossoms After Winter” web drama and the webtoon. 1. The order of events
In the drama, we only find out about how TaeSung reacted to the news of HaeBom becoming his brother when they were children in the second episode. However, in the webtoon, the opening scene shows us a flashback to the childhood memory. There is also the added detail about HaeBom wetting himself.
2. The reason TaeSung and HaeBom became distant
In the webtoon, HaeBom says that he avoided TaeSung to prevent causing him harm. However, in the drama, TaeSung mentions that he’s been distant from HaeBom because of his feelings for him.
3. The photo of HaeBom’s parents
In both the drama and the webtoon, HaeBom mentions that both his parents passed away in an accident. However, in the drama, the photo frame of his parents that he keeps in his room and speaks to only has him and his mother in the photo. Whereas in the webtoon, the photo frame has both his parents with him in the picture.
4. TaeSung’s friend group
In the webtoon, TaeSung is friends with 2 male students Jo YongHee and Baek InJe. He is also friends with a female student Nam JiAh. However, in the drama, he is friends with Jo YongHee and Nam JiAh, but there is no character called Baek InJe. Later, they get joined by another friend who is a girl named Kim SeRi.
5. The female friend who has a crush on TaeSung
On top of having different characters, the webtoon also makes it seem like Nam JiAh has a crush on TaeSung. Whereas in the drama, the female friend who has a crush on him is Kim SeRi.
6. How much we know about what HaeBom is thinking
In the webtoon, the writing style makes sure to elicit every single one of HaeBom’s thoughts and tells us his entire thought process. Whereas in the drama, we know as much as he tells the other characters and he gets less of his thoughts narrated. These are only a few of the differences that we’ve spotted.
